The North Queensland Cowboys started proceedings by kicking off. In typical Nines fashion the game went from side to side throughout the game however the frst try didn’t come until six minutes into the game.
Robert Lui was impeded as he chased his own chip kick which led to a Cowboys penalty. In the next set the Cowboys spread the ball to the left of the and it was young gun Zac Santo who through th final ball to Kyle Feldt who crossed for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys regathered the kick off and from their doubled their lead just before the half time buzzer. Two quality conversions took them out to a 12 point lead at the break.

Curtis Rona started the second half where the Cowboys finished the first by running nearly 70 metres to score the Cowboys third. The lead was stretched out to 18.
George Jennings could have got us on the board however he put a foot on the sideline after taking a ball above his shoulders from Lewis Brown.
Kevin Naiqama created some space in between his opposite number and drew in the Cowboys winger to give Eto Nabuli an easy stroll to the try line.
The Panthers went back to back in the 15th minute when George Jennings crossed. Jamie Soward searched for a gap across field and created space on the inside for Jennings to cross. Jennings however suffered an elbow injury while putting the ball down. We will keep you updated after scans reveal the extent of the injury.
Josh Mansour made the Cowboys sweat in the final couple of moments as he tip toed across the sideline to beautifully finish the Panthers third try. Unfortunately for the Panthers we could not convert any of our three tries in the quarter final and we went into the final 90 seconds trailing by 6.
An attempted short kick from Soward didn’t go the ten and the Cowboys finished the game by extending the lead through Kyle Feldt who was fed a great long ball by Robert Lui.
The final score went in favour of the Cowboys 22-12.
