The Brisbane Broncos are into the semi-finals of the NRL Auckland Nines after seeing off Newcastle in their quarter final this afternoon.
The Broncos scored four tries on their way to a 16-6 win that puts them into the last four.
With a two-point lead at the beak, some wild play to start the second half gave the Broncos a boost.
From a dropout Josh Hoffman was forced to tip the ball back infield as the Knights defenders arrived.
Somehow Hoffman emerged from the pile of bodies and took off downfield, streaking 50 metres to score and make it 12-6.
Some second-phase play from captain Corey Parker created the next opportunity.
Parker off-loaded in traffic, with Sam Thaiday releasing speedy Dale Copley down the left wing to the tryline.
The Knights scored a late try but the Broncos were through.
Earlier, the Broncos had plenty of ball in the first half, but the Knights managed to shut down most chances.
Eventually possession told and smart hooker Andrew McCullough dummied his way over the line to give the Broncos a 4-nil lead.
But the Knights hit back almost immediately, Jarrod Mullen stepping his way through to make it 6-4.
Then young half Kodi Nikorima showed his budding talent when he grubbered through for himself to score just a minute before halftime, giving the Broncos an 8-6 advantage.
