Palace starlet Zaha ready to sign deal for move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United have moved into pole position in the chase for Wilfried Zaha, according to ESPN.
The Crystal Palace player had looked set to sign for Arsenal but they now appear to have fallen behind having been distracted by the on-going Walcott contract saga and United have swooped in and made their move.
One of the key components of that offer is Zaha signing for the Manchester club this January, but immediately returning on loan to Crystal Palace for the rest of the season.
Palace, currently managed by former Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, are right up there with the high flyers in the Championship this season currently finding themselves in the lofty position of 3rd.
They are within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots, just two points behind Hull who sit in 2nd, and Palace are keen for any deal involving Zaha to involve the player making an immediate return to the club to help them with their promotion push.
The Eagles have not graced the Premiership since Andy Johnson’s goals fired Iain Dowie’s side into the top flight in 2004 and Zaha, who gained his first international cap for England in the friendly against Sweden during the latter end of last year, is said to be keen to leave his boyhood club having helped them to Premier League promotion.
The 21 year old can play either as a winger or a striker and has caught the attention of many following some dazzling displays earlier in the season.
The player has struggled for form slightly recently put that hasn’t put off the likes of United, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool from looking to add him to their squads.
Arsenal fans! How do you feel that it now appears your club has missed out on the young starlet as a result of the extended negotiations with Walcott? Is Walcott worth it or is this adding insult to injury?
