Chelsea have not yet offered new contracts to either Ashley Cole of John Terry, and the pair are now both expected to leave in the summer when their deals expire, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Terry has been with the club for 14 years, and will surely go down as their greatest ever defender. He’s skippered the side to three league titles, and won a Champions League and five FA Cups.
Cole arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2006, and has been a stalwart presence on the left side of defence all the way until this season – when Cesar Azpilicueta has replaced him Jose Mourinho’s first choice XI.
As a result, Cole is almost certain to leave, but the news on Terry will undoubtedly surprise and disappoint Chelsea supporters.
The pair, along with Frank Lampard, bid fans at Stamford Bridge an emotional farewell following the 0-0 draw with Norwich on Sunday, and it’s looking increasingly likely that the game will be both Terry and Cole’s last at the home ground.
