We put together two Arsenal XIs to test Arsene Wenger’s strength in depth.
With the transfer window now well and truly having slammed shut, Premier League managers including Arsene Wenger are left to put together the best team possible from the squads that they have built over the previous weeks and months.
To test the Gunners’ strength in depth, we’ve tried to put together two top quality XIs to allow the club to compete on all fronts. It wasn’t a simple task:
First team goalkeeper and defence
GK) Wojciech Szczesny – The Polish international has established himself as the club’s comfortable number one.
RB) Mathieu Debuchy – The experienced Frenchman has started life well since he arrived from Newcastle United.
CB) Per Mertesacker – Can now concentrate on his club form after retiring from international duty.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – Has formed a superb partnership with big Mertesacker at the heart of the back four.
LB) Kieran Gibbs – Is a fine player and an important cog in the Arsenal machine – but prone to injury.
