Spurs want Lazio ace Hernanes to boost top four challenge…
Tottenham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Lazio’s Brazilian playmaker Hernanes, who is set to hand in a transfer request shortly, reports IBTimes.
The 28-year-old has shone in Serie A over the past two seasons, and has established himself as an important member of the star studded Brazilian national squad, which Premier League stars like Coutinho, Willian and Fernandinho can’t even get into.
Hernanes wants to play the Champions League football he feels his talent deserves, and will demand a move away from Italy when the transfer window reopens in January.
Spurs face competition from high flying Atletico Madrid though, who can offer the playmaker Champions League football immediately. The La Liga giants are similarly prepared to pay the £25m valuation Lazio have put on the player’s head, and Andre Villas-Boas will have a tough job convincing him that his future lies in north London.
Hernanes has already bagged three goals this term, and is known for being a set-piece specialist. He would seemingly challenge Christian Eriksen for the no.10 spot, or potentially play alongside him in a narrower attacking formation.
If Spurs manage to pull of the big money deal, Hernanes would join fellow Brazilian midfielders Sandro and Paulinho at White Hart Lane.
