Spurs confirm agreement reached to sign Toulouse midfielder.
Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have reached an agreement with Toulouse FC to sign Etienne Capoue.
The France international is a versatile player who typically plays at the base of the midfield breaking up attacks, but is able to deputise in central defence too when required, making him a potentially valuable asset to Spurs this season.
Capoue confirmed the transfer himself last night after the French national team played out a gripping 0-0 stalemate with Belgium.
“There are only some paperwork to sign now. I will be at the training ground tomorrow,” he told Sky Sports on Wednesday evening.
“Tottenham is a super club. It’s the best club to continue my career. It should be official very quickly now.”
Capoue was right about the speed of the transfer, for less than twelve hours after his interview, Spurs confirmed the deal on their official website.
With the 25 year-old Capoue joining Sandro, Moussa Dembele and Paulinho in the Tottenham midfield, which is arguably now the best in the country.
