Blues and Spurs eyeing winger.
Shakhtar winger Willian wants to join Chelsea this month, according to the Daily Mail.
Premier League tickets: tickets for the greatest league in the world are on sale now!
But the player’s apparent availability will generate interest from both Stamford Bridge and Tottenham Hotspur, who saw a bid for the player rejected in the summer.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is known to be an admirer of the 24-year-old playmaker and the arrival of Taison – ironically a Chelsea target – in Ukraine has left the door open for Willian to make his long-awaited move to the Premier League.
The Brazilian is into his sixth season at Shakhtar and feels he has achieved all he can at the Donbass Arena.
But any departure may have to wait until the summer, with Shakhtar’s continued presence in the Champions League meaning the club are unlikely to want to do business mid-season.
The adaptable attacker has won four domestic titles, three domestic FA Cups and a Europa League crown during a very successful spell at Shakhtar and his performances in the Champions League this season have brought him to the attention of a myriad of interested parties. This may have led to Mircea Lucescu’s interest in bringing in Taison from Metalist, to fill a potential hole should Willian leave the club.
A move to Chelsea may be of more interest to Willian due to the presence of a number of his national team colleagues at the club, with Oscar, Ramires, Lucas Piazon and David Luiz all at the Stamford Bridge club, but the player has admitted he considers Villas-Boas a ‘friend’.
