4. San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys – The 49ers are one of the best defenses in football; the Cowboys are one of the best offenses in football. When the two sides face off it will determine for these two teams if either one is more effective or less effective than they were in 2013. The Cowboys have a terrible defense that may have only gotten worse after losing DeMarcus Ware, Jason Hatcher and Sean Lee, so it will be interesting to see if they can put up a fight against Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers read-option offense. RB Frank Gore will be joined by Ohio State powerback Carlos Hyde to try and keep the defense tired.
3. San Diego Chargers vs. Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals will host the Chargers during the annual Monday Night Football double-header. Larry Fitzgerald and Carson Palmer will try to outscore Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen. The Cardinals and Chargers had many similarities in 2013: A new head coach, a QB who resurrected his career, aging receivers who can still play great joined by an emerging elite WR, defenses that played better than anticipated, and a surprise regular season record. Now the two teams face off as contenders for two extremely tough divisions in order to start the season undefeated.
