Kagawa again failed to play 90 minutes for the Red Devils against West Brom.
The career of Japan international Shinji Kagawa at Manchester United has been far from a happy one and now the 24-year-old’s future at the club is in doubt, according to the Daily Mail.
The attacking midfielder was hauled off at half-time against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, after failing to impress manager David Moyes again.
It was the first time Kagawa had started a Premier League match this season and Moyes was quick to explain the Scot’s decision.
“I just decided I wanted to make a change,” the 50-year-old was quoted in the Daily Mail.
“We want Shinji to feel he has an opportunity to show what he can do.
“His best position is arguably at No 10 playing behind a main striker, but he’s used to playing on the left-hand side with Japan.”
The Japanese star joined the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2012, but the midfielder’s time at Old Trafford was plagued by injury during the 2012/13 campaign.
At Dortmund Kagawa played behind the striker and enjoyed great success at the Westfalenstadion by winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles.
However, now at United the same is not true and up until the West Brom match, the player’s chances had been limited to cup competitions.
The English champions lost 1-2 at home to the Baggies and it is now three losses from six ties for the new boss – a less than satisfactory beginning to the defence of their title.
