Ba said to be flattered by reported Black Cats interest.
Sunderland are reportedly interested in bringing in Le Havre’s El-Hadji Ba according to Sky Sports.
The highly rated midfielder has attracted attention from a host of top European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund, but Sunderland look set to swoop for the youngster and have begun talks with the Normandy club.
The 19 year old midfielder has put in some impressive performances this season in Ligue 2 as well as starring for the France under 20 team.
It is reported that the two clubs have settled on a fee in the region of £4 million.
‘To be honest, I am flattered by my name being mentioned with clubs such as Sunderland. Nothing has been decided yet, but Le Havre will be the one to decide if they still want to keep me at the club’ Ba told Sky Sports.
Sunderland have struggled for goals at times this season and manager Martin O’Neill will be hoping Ba can provide some much needed creativity.
The Black Cats currently lie 14th in the league but are just four points clear of the relegation zone and will be hoping not to be dragged into a relegation dogfight come the end of the season.
