New Liverpool striker warns fans not to expect too much too soon.
New Liverpool signing Daniel Sturridge has asked Liverpool fans to be patient as he settles into the Anfield side, according to Sky Sports.
The England striker, who recently signed from London club Chelsea in a deal worth £12 million, made his debut for the Reds in their 2-1 FA Cup victory over Mansfield.
Sturridge hit the back of the net after just seven minutes but caused some concern amongst the Anfield faithful after going on to miss a host of other chances.
Sturridge acknowledged his lack of sharpness after the game, pointing to the fact that he had not played a senior game since November, and would need some time before he would be at full match fitness.
‘I haven’t had much training. I’ve only had three sessions with the lads and then a light session on Saturday before the game. I am lacking in sharpness in front of goal. I missed a few chances but hopefully once I get my fitness those ones I missed will go in.’
The speedy targetman was deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, often being played out on the left-wing, and is hoping his move to Liverpool will reignite his career that has so far failed to live up to its potential.
He will be hoping to form a strong partnership with Uruguayan international Luis Suarez, who caused controversy in the game by seemingly using his hand to assist him in scoring the winner.
