Despite their draw with West Ham this past Sunday, Leicester are still heavy favourites to win the Premier League. At the start of the campaign they were a massive 5000-1 to go all the way though, and the journey from such long odds to heavy favourites is amazing (via the Mirror). You can check out the current odds at freebetsonline.org.uk and see just how far Leicester have come since August.
After their first couple of wins of the season the odds for Leicester to lift the title shortened significantly, but it took a long time for them to really sink.
We were 12 games in before we saw the odds drop below the 1500-1 mark, but after that they began to plummet. The odds quickly sank through the hundreds, into the tens, and by the 25th game they were 5-1. Check out their road to favourites in the chart below:
The Foxes have been powered by the form of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, and N’Golo Kante to name a few, with Claudio Ranieri turning them into a real force of nature. They deserve to be where they are in the table, and it would be hugely surprising if they weren’t to clinch the title in the next couple of weeks.
They look to be under some real pressure at the moment, with West Ham turning the screw late in the game and only a last gasp Leonardo Ulloa penalty rescuing a point. They’ll also be without a suspended Jamie Vardy for their next game against Swansea, with the England international picking up a second yellow for diving in the box against the Hammers.
That said though, they only need another two wins – at the most – and with their upcoming fixtures and the form they’ve shown throughout the season it’s hard to see that not happening. Despite their previous minnow status they’ve been one of the most consistent teams in the league this season, and with just three losses throughout the campaign they deserve to be atop the Premier League. With Leicester’s fantastic performance this season, will more fans start putting bets on their teams to lift the trophy?
