Lazio join the race for Christian Benteke…
Italian side Lazio have entered the race for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, and will compete with Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and even Chelsea for his signature, reports the Daily Star.
The young Belgian forward has been nothing short of sensational since his move to Villa Park last summer. He bagged 19 Premier league goals in his first season, and started this term where he left the last, scoring four times in his opening three matches. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old then picked up an injury which has kept him out of action until now, but that has not helped cool interest in the powerhouse forward.
Lazio have plotted an ambitious move to secure the striker ahead of the various Premier league giants interested in Benteke, who will likely cost around £30m after signing a new contract with the summer.
Arsenal desperately need a striker though, as Olivier Giroud is the only established, fit centre-forward at the club right now. Chelsea’s trio of forwards have yet to even score a goal this year, and David Moyes is also apparently keen on the forward if Javier Hernandez leaves to join Tottenham in January.
