Spanish media claim €15m bid lodged for striker.
Roma are reportedly in advanced talks over a move for Atletico Madrid star Adrian, with Erik Lamela edging closer to a move to Tottenham.
The 25-year-old was absent from Diego Simeone’s side for the Spanish Super Cup clash with Barcelona on Wednesday night, and reports in Spain have suggested that he may be on the verge of securing a move to Serie A.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma director of sport Walter Sabatini is said to be working on a deal to take the striker to the Italian capital, with the club willing to submit a bid of around €15m.
Having already sold Pablo Osvaldo to Southampton earlier this week, the Giallorossi are expected to part company with Lamela in the coming days with Tottenham awaiting the exit of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
The 21-year-old had been in excellent form last season as he scored 15 goals for the club, but despite being tipped for a bright future in Rome it appears as though the club are ready to cash in with Spurs believed to be preparing a bid of around €35m.
It will come as a bitter blow to Roma supporters who will be disappointed by the sale of one of their most promising stars. While the departure of Osvaldo was welcomed, should Lamela leave the club will expect an angry backlash from the fans.
Lamela’s brother took to Twitter on Thursday to hint that a move to Tottenham was close, but while the talented youngster took part in the Roma squad’s presentation day at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night, it appears only a matter of time before the move is made official.
