Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane has responded to assistant manager Roy Keane’s joke about him on Tuesday.
Keane had insisted that the LA Galaxy striker would play in their Euro 2016 qualifier this week despite welcoming his second son to the family, as he wouldn’t exactly be busy breastfeeding. The 35-year-old heard the remark, and here was his hilarious response.
Naturally, it appears as though this is merely a bit of fun between the pair, but the mood will switch sooner rather than later as they now focus on their qualifier against Germany on Thursday night.
Having already held the World champions to a draw last year, Martin O’Neill’s side will be desperate to secure another positive result in order to give themselves a boost in their bid to qualify for next summer’s tournament in France.
Ireland currently trail second-placed Poland by two points and are four points adrift of Germany ahead of Thursday’s encounter, but with a trip to Warsaw to come on the weekend, it is a crucial time for the team as they look to pull off an unlikely turnaround.
