New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan, who is known for being brash, declared that inside linebacker David Harris is the most underrated player in the NFL.
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has never been afraid to speak his mind. His latest public announcement came in the form of praising one of his players.
Inside linebacker David Harris is considered the most underrated player in the NFL by his coach. “David Harris is the most underrated player in the league. It ain’t close! It ain’t close! You could have a top 100 … and he’s not even mentioned. And I’m like, ‘What?!,” the brash coach said to the New York Daily News.
Harris finished with 124 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 2013. He continued to excel in run support, and having a dominant defensive line in front of him only helped matters.
The former All-Pro linebacker has made all 80 starts since Ryan took over as the Jets’ head coach. Harris’ contract is set to expire in 2015, so he will look to back up Ryan’s comments that he deserves more recognition as one of the best inside linebackers in the NFL.
