Two of the fastest rising offensive coordinators in the NFL, San Francisco 49ers OC Greg Roman and former Browns and Washington OC Kyle Shanahan, are reportedly candidates for the vacant offensive coordinator position with the St. Louis Rams.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Rams have requested permission to interview 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman and former Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan for vacancy in St. Louis.
Roman is also a candidate to replace Shanahan in Cleveland, and Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that the 49ers have given the Browns permission to interview Roman. Although Roman remains under contract with the 49ers since the departure of Jim Harbaugh, the team is permitting him to seek employment elsewhere. Shanahan and the Browns mutually agreed to part ways and doesn’t need permission to interview.
Former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer left St. Louis to become the offensive coordinator at Georgia. In three seasons with the Rams, the team never finished above the 20s in either yards or points.
