Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is one of the most frequently criticized quarterbacks in the NFL, but his toughness has been one of his more admirable traits.
Romo recovered from back surgery this season, but he had another back injury that took him out of one game and kept him out for another full one.
It has since been revealed that the Cowboys quarterback is also playing with a broken rib, according to NFL.com. He led the Cowboys to a Thursday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears while throwing three touchdowns.
Romo had been in pain on Thanksgiving in a 33-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and he had decided not to take painkillers. He is expected to make a different decision before the Cowboys’ next game against the Eagles.
Despite his ongoing pain, Romo is putting together one of the best seasons of his career as he has 25 touchdown passes with eight interceptions for a 108.8 passer rating.
