Los Blancos haven’t finished with the big spending just yet.
After completing a world record transfer of £85.3m for Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, Real Madrid are preparing a second swoop on the Premier League and target Luis Suarez of Liverpool, reports the Metro.
The Spanish giants are ready to test the Reds’ resolve and table a £45m offer for the Uruguayan – almost double what the Merseyside outfit paid for Suarez two-and-a-half years ago.
The 26-year-old has been one of the main subjects for transfer during the summer, with Arsenal initially showing interest before negotiations fell through.
Suarez made it clear to the hierarchy at Anfield that the forward wanted to leave the club, but has since had a change of heart and is back training with the first team after being exiled by manager Brendan Rodgers.
Madrid are now the only realistic side in world football who could afford and need a player like the South American, having sold Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli and allowing Kaka to join AC Milan.
Jose Callejon has also left the Santiago Bernabeu for Italy and despite the arrival of Bale, the imminent departure of Mesut Ozil means there is room in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for more fire-power.
Suarez is yet to make an appearance this season, as the attacker serves out a 10-match ban that was given to the Uruguay international at the end of last term for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Not that this has affected the club as in the striker’s absence, Rodgers’ men are the only top flight English side to have a 100% record and sit top of the table after victories over Stoke City, Aston Villa and Manchester United.
