Real Madrid defender Marcelo has played down speculation linking him with a £25m move to Liverpool, talkSPORT reports.
The 25-year-old Brazilian, who is regarded as one of the world’s best in his position, was linked with a mega move to Anfield to solve Brendan Rodgers’ left-back problem.
The player himself though has distance himself from the rumours, instead declaring his happiness at the Bernanbeu.
“My best memory of football was when I signed for Real Madrid because I did not expect it,” he told El Mundo Deportivo.
“It was a spectacular moment. I’ve been here since I was 18, I’m from Madrid in practice and I am proud to be one of the captains of Real Madrid.”
It seems though that the Reds may have to aim a little lower in the summer, with names like Ashley Cole, Alex Sandro and even Luke Shaw, linked.
