Real eyeing mega-bucks Bale deal.
Real Madrid will test Tottenham’s resolve to keep Gareth Bale by offering €70m (£56m) for the Welsh winger next summer, reports Italian website CalcioMercato.
The La Liga giants, who formed a strategic partnership with Spurs following Luka Modric’s move from London to Madrid, have long held an interest in the 23-year-old and are reportedly ready to make a mega-bid next summer.
Bale has emerged as one of the finest players in world football since breaking into the Tottenham side three years ago.
After initially being used as a left-back, the powerful Wales international has blossomed into a deadly winger, and already boasts 6 goals in 13 league appearances this season.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that the club are not interested in selling their best players but the Portuguese will know that it will be a struggle to keep Bale at White Hart Lane if Spurs cannot ensure a fourth placed finish and Champions League football.
There has been some suggestion in Spain that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Madrid next summer and, while this still seems farfetched, Bale would be a decent replacement for the Portugal superstar.
