Man City’s Aguero is a target for Los Blancos.
After signing Gareth Bale this summer for a world record £85.3m, Real Madrid have now made their transfer priority a striker and are targeting Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, reports the Guardian.
Los Merengues made an inquiry about the Argentina international during the recently closed window, but were told in no uncertain terms by City that the forward was not for sale.
After failed pursuits for both Radamel Falcao and Neymar, Madrid eventually made the move for Bale, but have since realised more attacking support is needed.
The sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli has left Los Blancos with only Karim Benzema and youngster Alvaro Morata as options up-front.
Benzema has been out-of-form and has been linked with a move away and whilst Cristiano Ronaldo is in great goal-scoring form again, Madrid cannot afford to rely too heavily on the 28-year-old.
Aguero has been a great influence for the Citizens after joining the club in the summer of 2011 – helping the club to their maiden Premier League title in the attacker’s first season.
The 25-year-old scored the decisive strike on the dramatic final day of the 2011/12 campaign to beat QPR 3-2 and secure the trophy.
The Argentine also knows the city of Madrid well having spent five years with Atletico Madrid before moving to England.
Aguero has scored 52 goals in 96 matches for City since arriving at the Etihad Stadium and also has 19 strikes in 43 caps for the Argentinian national team.
