The Merseyside giants have been chasing the 20-year-old’s signature for the whole of the January transfer window, and were said to be confident of bringing their former player back to Anfield for as little as £4.5 million due to there being no other parties thought to be interested in the England Under-21 international.
Also, when the Reds let the player leave the club for the Seasiders in the summer of 2011 for just £250,000, Blackpool had a sell-on clause inserted into the deal, making the club feel confident that they would only be interested in selling back to them.
However, now that Reading are believed to be preparing a bid of £8m for Ince, son of former Liverpool captain Paul, then Liverpool will also have to match that figure if they are to have any hope of landing the player who has already found the back of the net on 15 occasions this season.
