Tottenham (last season: 5th; currently: 5th)
The odd thing about Tottenham under Tim Sherwood is that they have not played particularly well but still picked up 23 points from a possible 30, losing just once, with ten men, against Manchester City. In fact, if all teams continued picking up points at the same rate since Sherwood’s appointment, Spurs would pip Liverpool to fourth place by one point. Consider that, Tim haters.
That said, Spurs have been comprehensively outplayed by both City and Arsenal under the 45-year-old and face away matches against Chelsea and Liverpool and the visit of the Gunners in the space of 24 days in March, which could see their challenge unravel. The return to fitness of Younes Kaboul was a major boost against Newcastle, their best performance of the season, but they are one injury to Emmanuel Adebayor away from being very light on goals.
Verdict: Spurs will fall just short again. Fifth place beckons.
