Speaking after the R’s 0-0 draw with Spurs at Loftus Road, Redknapp told reporters: “Yeah, we’re taking Livermore.”
“We’re doing a deal to take Jake [Livermore] on loan. I like Jake, I’m a big fan of Jake’s. Good, young player. It will be good experience for him, I think.”
Livermore, 23, was given his first team debut at White Hart Lane by Redknapp at the beginning of last season and went on to make over 30 appearances in all competitions for the North Londoners before Redknapp’s sacking this summer.
But after a strong start to the season which included his England debut in November, the hard-working midfielder has found his chances limited under the 65-year-old’s successor, Andre Villas-Boas, and the youngster has played just 11 minutes of Premier League football since mid-October.
Villas-Boas, who watched enforcer Sandro limp off with a suspected knee injury in the first half at Loftus Road, admitted that the deal for Livermore was close to being concluded.
“There’s nothing confirmed yet,” Villas-Boas said. “I think when we announce it, it will be official from all three parties.”
