The Ligue 1 champions have not given up hope on the manager.
With Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc only being given a one-year deal with the club, it was always likely that the French champions would go in for someone else in the summer of 2014.
Many reports are saying that Arsenal stalwart Arsene Wenger is still the No.1 target for PSG and are to open talks with the 63-year-old within the next few weeks, according to the Mirror.
Wenger is in the boss’ final year at the Emirates Stadium and as yet, chief executive Ivan Gazidis has not opened up negotiations over a new deal.
PSG want to capitalise on this uncertainty and will offer the Frenchman a whopping £8m-a-year contract to tempt the coach to the Parc des Princes.
Wenger has just celebrated the manager’s 17th year with the Gunners and with Sir Alex Ferguson retiring at the end of last term, is now the longest serving boss in English football.
At the start of the 2013/14 campaign there many in the stands at the Emirates calling for change at the club, with a seemingly poor transfer window and start to the season.
Yet the £42.4m arrival of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and a superb run for the team of 10 straight wins in all competitions, means most have now changed their tune.
Wenger has said that he will discuss the possibility of a new deal in north London nearer to the end of the year, but PSG are hoping to turn the coach’s head before then.
