Ibrahimovic wants to team up with Rooney…
PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is desperate to team up with Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, and has urged the England man to sign for his Parisian club, reports the Metro.
Speculation was rife over the summer that Rooney would leave Old Trafford, but new boss David Moyes was adamant that the striker would stay. Rooney has started the season in good form, and has already bagged three goals direct from freekicks.
“When there was talk of Rooney joining us in Paris it was a prospect that excited me,” said Ibrahimovic.
“I think he made it clear in the summer that he wanted a fresh challenge – and things have not been going so well for Manchester United this season.
“If he still wants to move next summer, or in January, I would urge him to come and play with me in Paris. The only direction this club is going is up.”
United have started the season poorly, and currently lie in 12th place in the Premier League table, having suffered an embarrassing loss to West Brom last weekend.
PSG on the other hand sit at the top of Ligue 1 on level points from big spenders Monaco.
“If he did join he would have to get used to the fact that Zlatan scores even better goals than him,” added the typically brash giant Swede.
Whether PSG need Rooney when they already have Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani up top is another matter, but the 30-year-old is adamant that Rooney would improve his already impressive side.
“But I don’t just want to play with great players, I want to play with technically great players – and that is what he is.
“You can work on the technical side but it is not something you can be taught. You have it or you don’t and Rooney does.”
