The French champions are considering a move for Mata.
One of the most bizarre decisions of the new season has been returning Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho leaving Juan Mata out of the team.
The image of the talented Spaniard sitting on the bench for the Blues has prompted interest from several top sides and Paris Saint-Germain are the latest to think about a move.
Super-rich PSG will offer the west London club £35m for Mata, after trying to sign the Spain international over the summer.
Mourinho’s stubbornness over not letting the 25-year-old leave led many to think that the attacking midfielder would play a big part in the Portuguese coach’s plans.
However, as yet this has not proven to be the case, although the 50-year-old has started Mata in the side’s last two fixtures in both the Champions League and Premier League.
Yet it is clear that whilst most think of the midfield ace as a supreme talent, Mourinho is unsure whether the player fits into the manager’s new plans at Stamford Bridge.
PSG owner president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has sanctioned a move for Mata and it’s believed that landing the midfielder is the Ligue 1 champions’ No.1 priority in January.
So far in 2013/14 the 2013 PFA Player of the Year nominee has started just five matches for the team in all competitions and has provided two assists.
Mata is a popular figure at the Bridge and as much as Mourinho is revered by the Chelsea fans, selling someone who is thought of by many to be the club’s best player, would be an extremely unpopular choice.
