The Spaniard has enjoyed a less prominent role under Mourinho this term.
Chelsea star Juan Mata is the subject of interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain as the midfielder’s future in west London remains in doubt, reports the Telegraph.
Despite having been arguably the Blues’ best player for the past two seasons, when Jose Mourinho returned to manage the side Mata started to play a less important role.
The Portuguese ace left the 25-year-old out of the team for much of the start of the current campaign and only recently has the Spain international been utilised more.
PSG showed interest in Mata towards the end of the transfer window this summer, but the Premier League outfit knocked back their approaches.
However, with Mourinho wanting a new striker at Stamford Bridge, the money that would come from selling the Spaniard could go towards the purchase.
Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Mata, with boss Andre Villas-Boas having originally bought the attacking midfielder to England whilst in charge at the Bridge.
However, Mourinho would be more reluctant to sell to a rival club in the English top tier and therefore PSG would be a much more likely suitor.
The Ligue 1 holders would be an attractive prospect as well, topping the French top division currently and having won all three of their Champions League ties to date.
With world-class stars such as Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic already at the Parc des Princes, Mata is able to tell the ambitions of the super-wealthy club.
