The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly listening to trade offers for backup quarterback Mark Sanchez, who is looking to get his career back on track.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez is looking for a fresh start after struggling with the New York Jets and being cast out.
The Eagles signed him to be their No. 2 quarterback, and he has shined in preseason action so far. Head coach Chip Kelly is known for being an offensive guru, and Sanchez is his latest exhibit. The former Jets starting quarterback has thrown for 196 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 18-for-22 passing.
This is making Sanchez a trade chip, and Kelly said the team will listen to offers for him. “What are you giving me? I mean, we’ll listen to anything for anybody. We’re not just going to put our head in the sand and say no. It better be a pretty good deal in terms of what it is. But that’s not in any of our thought process,” the former Oregon head coach said to CSN Philly.
If Sanchez is traded, the Eagles have another capable backup in Matt Barkley waiting in the wings. Barkley struggled in limited action last season, but he will look to take a step forward in his second NFL season.
