The Broncos have signed Garbutt for two seasons.
The Brisbane Broncos have added more depth to its 2015 squad after signing Melbourne Storm prop Mitch Garbutt for two seasons.
At 115kg and 190cm, Garbutt will provide plenty of size for the forward pack, and at the age of 25 he provides the Broncos with a long-term option.
Broncos coach Anthony Griffin said Garbutt was a solid acquisition for the club.
“Mitch will add some depth and some size to our squad next season,” said Griffin.
“He is coming to the right age as a front rower and has the best football of his career in front of him.
“I’m sure he will fit in well at the Broncos and his addition will complement the other talent we have in our group of forwards.”
Garbutt has played nine matches with the Storm, and has been performing well with Storm’s Queensland Cup feeder club Easts Tigers.
However, the 25-year-old said he has his eyes set upon breaking into the Broncos starting side permanently next year.
“The Broncos are a really professional club and I’ll do the hard work necessary to get into the side,” he said.
“There are some great players at the club so I can learn a lot there.”
