Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have been named men’s and women’s World Champions for 2014 by the International Tennis Federation.
It’s the fourth time Djokovic has won the award after he won Wimbledon, the ATP Tour Finals and finished the year ranked number one by the ATP.
Williams won the US Open and the WTA Tour Championship and finished the season ranked number one by the WTA.
American brothers Bob and Mike Bryan were named men’s doubles world champions for the 11th time in 12 years, while Italian pairing Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci were named women’s doubles world champions for the third successive year.
“All of our World Champions have demonstrated great consistency at the top of the game in one of the strongest eras for our sport,” ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti said.
“Serena Williams is one of the toughest competitors of all-time, while Novak Djokovic’s performances at the biggest events make him a deserving winner. Bob and Mike Bryan’s remarkable achievement is a testament to their continued drive and determination, while Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci have shown the importance of teamwork both on and off court.”
