The NFL has dealt fines to various defensive players for roughing the passer while Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was fined for unnecessary roughness.
In Week 1 of the NFL, there were various incidents that may be considered as roughness. Most notably, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown drop-kicked Cleveland Browns punter Spencer Lanning in the face on a punt return.
For this, the NFL fined him $8,268. There are other players who have had the Goodell hammer dropped on them as well. Two New England Patriots defenders, linebackers Dont’a Hightower and Chandler Jones, have each been fined $16,537 for roughing the passer.
New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace received the same fine for the same penalty.
Here is a tweet from CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora breaking the news of these fines.
