League continuing efforts to globalise the sport.
The NFL have announced the three remaining teams that will participate in the UK games next season at Wembley, with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders amongst those in action.
The Jags and Raiders had already been announced as the home teams in the three games along with the Atlanta Falcons. However, the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins have now been added to the line-up.
All games will take place at Wembley, with the 2014 International Series set to see an unprecedented six teams participate in games outside of the US.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed the match-ups on Thursday at a Sports Journalists’ Association lunch in London, with dates, times and tickets to be announced at a later date.
“Our fans in the UK continue to demonstrate their passion for more football,”Goodell said as reported by NFL UK.
“Next year for the first time we will play three regular-season games in London. We have scheduled three attractive games with four teams playing in their first International Series game. The growing enthusiasm for the NFL internationally is exciting and we look forward to continuing to respond to this interest in our game.”
Meanwhile, the Jaguars will take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in the second of the two games held at Wembley this season.
While Jacksonville have committed to playing a home game in the UK in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, it will be the first trip for Atlanta, Detroit and Oakland.
It will mean a homecoming for British players Menelik Watson and Jack Crawford, provided that they are still with the Raiders next year, while the arrival of the Dolphins will be a boost as they have previously been ranked as the second most popular NFL team in the UK.
With both television ratings and attendances in the UK continuing to grow and impressing the NFL, it is no surprise that the league are looking to reward their supporters across the pond.
