Magpies on alert to possible deal for Vitesse forward.
Newcastle United have been given hope in their efforts to sign Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony after the player’s agent revealed in an interview that his client could very well be leaving the Dutch club in the January transfer window.
There are still Newcastle v Chelsea tickets available for the Premier League match at St James’ Park on Feb 2.
Bony, who at present is representing Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, is currently enjoying a sensational season in front of goal for the Eredivisie outfit, and as such the player’s agent Francis Kacou believes that his client will be representing a different club come next month.
“In two days I will be looking to complete a deal. In the last three to five days [of the transfer window] there are always more clubs worrying”, Kacou told Voetbal International.
“I cannot say anything about which clubs are interested. There is a lot happening behind the scenes, but I would not want to embarrass Wilfried.
“He is now focusing on the African Cup of Nations. Will he return to Arnhem after the end of the tournament? We’ll see in the coming days.”
