The French revolution at St James’ Park continues apace.
Moussa Sissoko has been threatening to leave Toulouse for some time after outgrowing the Ligue 1 outfit.
The rangy French international, 23, has been labelled the ‘next Patrick Vieira’ and is likely be interested in following the tough-tackling Arsenal legend to the Premier League.
A move to join the Magpies could be aided by the friendship Sissoko has with stylish midfielder Yohan Cabaye, who seems to be Newcastle’s recruiter-in-chief, after nearly persuading former Lille teammate Mathieu Debuchy to move to St James’ Park.
A move to bring in the powerful midfielder to the North East will lead to speculation that enforcer Cheick Tiote is set to leave the Toon, with Chelsea reportedly tracking the Ivorian, but Alan Pardew will be desperate to keep hold of all his stars, after a poor start the current Premier League campaign.
Toulouse, meanwhile, will be keen to cash-in on Sissoko to avoid the prospect of losing such a talented player on a free transfer in six months time.
