Babin, a 34-year-old defensive end, is considered a pass rush specialist and has managed to perform at a very high level despite his age. He recorded a team-leading 7.5 sacks with the Jaguars in 2013.
Babin has been to two Pro Bowls – with the Titans in 2010 and the Eagles in 2011. In those seasons Babin record 12.5 and 18.0 sacks respectively. He was named Second Team All-Pro in 2011.
The Jets defensive line in 2013 consisted of All-Pro Muhammad Wilkerson, Rookie of the Year Sheldon Richardson, and Damon Harrison. The addition of Babin provides an added pass rusher to a unit that led the AFC in rushing defense last year, but often struggled against the pass.
