The Brazilian nearly went to Stamford Bridge earlier in the summer.
Brazil star Willian joined Chelsea in controversial circumstances this summer after the winger had already completed a medical at London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
However, at the last moment the 25-year-old decided to join the Blues instead, but the South American reveals this wasn’t such a shock decision as the club had tried to sign the forward earlier in the transfer window.
“They made an offer two months ago but I was not allowed to leave,” Willian was quoted on Sky Sports.
“I kept following the club and I used to go to London to follow Chelsea whenever I had free time and now my dream has come true.
“I will work with Mourinho who is the best manager and I will grow a lot with him.”
The signing of the Brazil international seemed somewhat bewildering from those on the outside, due to the deep pool of talent the club already had at Stamford Bridge in attacking midfield.
Although Victor Moses has since left on-loan to Liverpool, Willian will still have to compete with 2013 PFA Player of the Year nominees Eden Hazard and Juan Mata, new signing Andre Schurrle and Oscar and Kevin De Bruyne.
With it being a World Cup year the winger is keen to impress in west London in order to get a place in Luis Felipe Scolari’s 23-man squad for the tournament next summer.
However, Willian will first have to catch the eye of Mourinho though and break into the Chelsea first team ahead of several world-class stars.
