Sevilla striker looking for move to Premier League.
Alvaro Negredo has put a host of London clubs on alert after admitting he is keen on testing out his talents in the Premier League, according to The Metro.
The Sevilla striker had previously been linked with a move to Chelsea, but with the Blues having recently secured the £7 million signing of former Newcastle forward Demba Ba, the path appears to have been left clear for Tottenham and Arsenal to make a move.
Arsene Wenger is still looking for a replacement forward following the departure of Robin Van Persie to Manchester United with summer recruits Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud failing to impress.
Tottenham meanwhile are keen to bring in a centre forward after it emerged that the Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be joining his country’s African Cup of Nations squad.
It was previously thought that Adebayor had made himself unavailable for the tournament, citing ongoing security concerns following the terrorist attack on the team bus in 2011.
Following a meeting with the head of the country’s FA however, Adebayor has now agreed to join up with the squad.
That leaves Tottenham manager Villas Boas with Jermain Defoe as his only recognised striker and that may persuade the Portuguese boss to make a move for Negredo.
One potential stumbling block however may be the transfer fee, with Sevilla seeking a sum in the region of £18 million for the player’s signature.
