Bosh considers Rockets offer: Heat center had contemplated new challenge.
Bosh was close to leaving Heat: Two-time champion reveals he was open to move elsewhere.
Miami Heat star Chris Bosh has revealed that he hasn’t spoken to LeBron James since his former team-mate opted to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer.
Bosh was responding to questions regarding the upcoming pre-season game against the Cavaliers this Saturday in Brazil, and when quizzed on whether or not he had spoken to James, he simply replied: “No”.
After the ‘Big Three’ in Miami was broken up by James’ decision to leave, Bosh signed a new long-term contract with the franchise that will see both him and Dwyane Wade handed the responsibility of leading the organisation forward.
Luol Deng was added as the third significant piece on the roster, but the loss of James will undoubtedly hurt Miami’s ability to reach the NBA Finals for a fifth consecutive year.
When asked if he was looking forward to seeing James and playing against him in Rio de Janeiro, Bosh was still apprehensive.
“Yeah … I don’t know,” he told reporters.
“I’m in the mode where I’m trying to lead my team, help these guys out around here.”
“If guys aren’t in this locker room I don’t have much time for them — if any.”
Bosh insisted that he was purely focused on the present and helping his current team-mates and wouldn’t think too much about the past as the Heat now start a new era without their talismanic leader over the last four years.
The 30-year-old claims that he sees Saturday’s game as an opportunity for his team to improve despite all the hype that will be created around it, and ultimately it is about building a new future and it will be “good to get this out the way” so early on in the year.
