PSG are interested but the manager does not want to sell.
The tale of Jose Mourinho and Juan Mata at Chelsea this season has been a strange one, but the manager does not want to sell the attacking midfielder, reports the Daily Express.
Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in the Spaniard as Mourinho continues to leave Mata out of the Blues side.
This is despite the fact that the 25-year-old was arguably the best player in the Premier League last term and was one of six nominees for the PFA Player of the Year award.
Mata was a stalwart in the team then but has been used less since Mourinho arrived back at Stamford Bridge and has been limited to seven starts in all competitions – two of which coming in the League Cup.
Oscar has been the 50-year-old’s preferred choice in the No.10 role so far in 2013/14 and as such, many clubs have been linked with a move for Mata.
Along with PSG, Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have all been named as wanting the Spain international.
Yet although Mourinho is keeping the midfielder at arms length, the coach has no intention of selling Mata – even for a huge transfer fee.
This suggests that the Portuguese boss does rate the player, but is keen to try out all combinations at the Blues – not an easy task considering there are six attacking midfielders available currently.
As a thorough professional Mata is getting on with the job in hand quietly, but may become frustrated soon in west London if chances remain limited.
