The returning boss will sit down with Mata and discuss his future.
Returning Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is set to have crunch talks with midfielder Juan Mata to stress how important the Spaniard is to the side after being targeted by Barcelona, according to the Daily Mirror.
Despite being one of the Blues best players in the 2012/13 season Mata had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and back to Spain.
Barca had been lining up a bid for the playmaker as Mourinho was said not to be convinced entirely by the No.10 and instead grooming Eden Hazard for that role behind the striker.
Yet with the Catalans making it openly clear they would be prepared to make an offer for the 25-year-old, Chelsea are said to be furious in what they see as a blatant attempt from the La Liga champions to unsettle their key man.
Now Mourinho will sit down with Mata and make it absolutely clear that the Spain international is a key member of the squad and that there is no chance of him being sold.
Last season the Blues had a bumper year of fixtures but the World Cup winner still managed to maintain unbelievable levels of stamina by appearing in 64 matches.
Mata scored 18 times in all competitions for the west London side and provided assists for 34 further goals.
Since arriving at the Bridge in the summer of 2011 the Spaniard has become an integral part of the Chelsea first team and is arguably their most influential player.
The fact that Mourinho has also recognised that and is going to relay that to Mata should settle Blues fans’ fears that he will leave in this transfer window.
