The Blues boss is points out the Frenchman’s trophy drought.
Ahead of the Arsenal v Chelsea match in the Premier League Jose Mourinho has had a sly dig at opposite number Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners sit two points ahead of their London rivals currently after a great start to the season, but Mourinho thinks that if the 50-year-old had the same amount of time as Wenger to build a team the Portuguese boss could do the same.
“I have already played against a “better Arsenal”, that of the 2004-05 season was amazing, so I am impressed by their level this season, but if you give me eight years to build, I will have a great team too!” the coach was quoted by Goal.
Relations between Mourinho and Wenger have been notoriously poor in the past, with the former winning the title off the Frenchman back in 2005.
Since then mud has been thrown from both sides and it seems as if that relationship is not likely to improve in the near future.
Wenger has never beaten Mourinho, but the 64-year-old knows that a win at the Emirates Stadium will see the north London club leapfrog back to the top of the table and open up a five point gap over the Blues.
This will be easier said than done however, as the west Londoners have been improving steadily throughout the current term and although they may not always play attractive football, the positive results are coming.
