Manager-less Middlesbrough host their first match in this Championship season without Tony Mowbray as Doncaster Rovers travel to the Riverside Stadium.
Caretaker boss Mark Venus knows that this is a very winnable game for Boro with the two sides level on points in the lower half of the division.
Following a 3-2 defeat at the hands of then bottom-placed Barnsley, Mowbray was sacked and now the hosts will want to bounce back immediately with victory.
Veteran defender Jonathan Woodgate remains an injury doubt for the home team having missed the club’s last three matches, but Daniel Ayala has arrived from Norwich City on a three-month loan deal and could go straight into the side.
Against the odds Doncaster captain Rob Jones should be fit for the match despite having suffered what was thought to be a broken arm last weekend.
Scans however showed nothing worse than bad bruising and now Jones is in line to return to the Rovers side for the game on Teesside.
The visitors have more injury concerns than their opponents, with Jamie McCombe, James Husband, Harry Forrester and Manchester United loanee Federico Macheda all sidelined.
Youngster Luke McCullogh could make the player’s senior debut although manager Paul Dickov is still unsure and is looking into loan options.
