The battle continues on Tuesday night as both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies will look to take a 3-2 series lead in this intense match-up.
OKC point guard Russell Westbrook paid tribute to both Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibaka for the job they are doing inside on the likes of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, and that will undoubtedly be a key clash in determining who prevails in this series.
While the Grizzlies have been successful in slowing the tempo down and playing at their pace which in turn limits the number of fast break points for their rivals, the likes of Westbrook and Kevin Durant continue to get their numbers.
Meanwhile, Reggie Jackson played a key role last time out, and the Thunder return home looking to protect home-court advantage heading into the final few games of the series.
While Randolph is averaging 18.3 points per game, which is higher than his regular season average, he isn’t as efficient and he insists that he will “keep on being me” and be aggressive in the paint.
However, he will continue to be met by Perkins and Ibaka, and Memphis coach Dave Joerger acknowledged that it has been a problem so far, but envisages his team doing things a little better in order to get good looks.
Meanwhile, his opposite number, Scott Brooks, wants his team to continue to be competitive inside which will allow them to assert themselves in the game and play at their pace.
A loss here would mean a trip to Memphis to save themselves from a first round playoff exit, and so expect the hosts to be on top of their game this time out.
