Melbourne and Gold Coast square off in an intriguing battle at the MCG on Saturday.
It will be most interesting to see how much the Demons have improved over the off-season after bringing in the likes of Heritier Lumumba, Ben Newton, Sam Frost and Jeff Garlett.
There’s no doubt the loss of star defender James Frawley to Hawthorn has left a gaping hole in the back line, while the Demons will be missing firepower up forward with Chris Dawes suspended.
Gold Coast midfielder Gary Ablett has been declared fit in what will come as a major boost for Rodney Eade’s side.
If the Suns are serious about playing finals football in 2015, they have to get off to a winning start over the rebuilding Melbourne outfit.
So, will Melbourne cause a first round boilover? Or will the ever-improving Suns prove to be too strong?
