Journalists pulled no punches in their criticism for David Moyes as Manchester United lost their second Premier League match in a row at Old Trafford, going down 0-1 to Newcastle.
Read their reaction here.
After Manchester United lost to Newcastle United in the Barclays Premier League – their second loss at Old Trafford in the space of seven days – the sense of unease was palpable both in the stadium and amongst the side’s online following.
It was another match in which the Red Devils lost the midfield battle, and with Moyes having elected to play two strikers, that was partially down to him.
Moyes also gambled on Robin Van Persie despite the Dutchman clearly not being fully fit, and the suspicion was that he intended to take him off early in the second half with Manchester United occupying a healthy lead.
It wasn’t to be, and Newcastle United were first to every ball, deserving their luck with the ball that bounced off the post onto Vernon Anita’s hand and was not called as a penalty.
Moyes has certainly been hamstrung by the loss of Michael Carrick and Robin Van Persie for long periods, while the industry of Wayne Rooney would certainly have helped today.
Here’s a selection of tweets from journalists after Manchester United’s loss today.
A rare summer where there's so much managerial movement… and United end up with a good manager, but one maybe not good enough for this.

It keeps coming back to that really. Think there are many more modern, better young managers than Moyes, who are more expansive.

United will stick with Moyes. Not their style to get rid. Test of nerve, though, if they don't make the top four at the end of the season
