Both Rafael and Shaw join the growing list of absentees.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could have a selection headache ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Southampton as both Rafael and Luke Shaw suffer injuries, reports CaughtOffside.
The two full-backs suffered the problems during Sunday’s FA Cup Third Round victory over Yeovil Town and both had to be hauled off by van Gaal – with youngsters Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair switching to the full-back positions.
Blackett and McNair may have to continue there against the Saints at Old Trafford on Sunday as well, as if Rafael and Shaw both miss out there will be no regular options for the Red Devils in the positions.
That is because Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young – who have done well as wing-backs under van Gaal – have both been confirmed as absent already, whilst Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo are also on the medic’s table.
