It’s one of the biggest games of the Premier League calendar as Manchester United host Manchester City in a fiercely contested derby at Old Trafford.
The holders have endured a difficult first season under the guidance of David Moyes and a win in this match would help give them some confidence in an otherwise disappointing year.
However, having beaten the Red Devils in four of the last five Manchester derbies – including a convincing 4-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the campaign – City are certainly the favourites going into this one.
A win against their rivals would see the Citizens close the gap at the top of the table on leaders Chelsea, who are six points ahead but Manuel Pellegrini’s men have three games in hand.
The hosts have enjoyed two good results since the 0-3 home defeat to Liverpool a little over a week ago, beating both Olympiakos in the Champions League and then West Ham United at the weekend.
Moyes does have issues in defence though, with question marks still remaining over the fitness of Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling, whilst club captain Nemanja Vidic is suspended.
Antonio Valencia and Robin van Persie are definitely ruled out through injury, which is the same story for the away side concerning Sergio Aguero and Matija Nastasic.
City skipper Vincent Kompany will return to the starting XI though after missing the 5-0 hammering of Fulham on Saturday due to suspension.
